Foreign No More
By Clement Yeung
"Let no foreigner who has bound himself to the Lord say,
The Lord will surely exclude me from His people." (Isaiah 56:3)
We are foreigners,
committed to the Lord
to serve Him,
to love His name,
to worship Him,
to keep Sabbath undefiled,
to hold fast to His covenant.
We learn to serve Him
by following the example of His suffering servant.
We show our love to Him
by exalting His name from the rising to the setting of the sun.
We worship Him
by giving Him our allegiance.
After their deliverance from Egypt,
the Israelites were commanded to observe the Sabbath.
Similarly, after redemption
we are to keep Sabbath undefiled.
As a sign of Mosaic covenant,
Sabbath was meant to be delightful and honourable.
The same applies to the new worship;
let us hold fast to His covenant.
Thus says the Lord, through His own prophet,
"I will bring them,
to My holy mountain,
Mount Zion, where
both the Jews and foreigners will worship together in the last days.
Their sacrifices and incence
will be accepted on My altar.
They will call upon My name
in My house of prayer.
They will be foreigners no more
according to My everlasting covenant".
Thus promises the Lord, to the foreigners
"You may approach My holy mountain,
your burnt offerings will be accepted,
you will find joy in My house of prayer".
Yes, foreigners will rebuild Your walls,
and they will work in Your field and vineyard.
Priests will be chosen from among them.
and their kings will serve You.
By grace, as grafted branches
we are foreign no more.
